Recording Techniques

The guitar parts were recorded and sequenced on the Session 8 editor. The acoustic guitar were recorded on a standard 'Encore' electro acoustic guitar using an ATM 27HE Audio Technica Dynamic Hypercardoid microphone. The clean electric part was recorded on a Fender 'Stratocaster' with the in-between pickup selected (a favourite of mine) through a Fender 'The Twin' guitar amplifier, the ATM 27HE mic was used. The second electric guitar was recorded in much the same way, with the addition of overdrive and echo, supplied by the Korg 'Pandora's Box'. A third, overdriven guitar part was also added to give the sound more depth.

The slide solo which appears in the middle section was recorded on an Epiphone Gibson SG in a similar manner to the other guitar parts, with overdrive and a long delay. The main solo was recorded on the same guitar without the delay and a little less overdrive.

The vocal were recorded through an Audio Technica Dynamic microphone with a pop shield.

The bass guitar used was a Fender Squire 'Jazz Bass' recorded directly into the desk. The bass part is actually double track as an experiment.

The drums were recorded using a 6 microphone technique. The positions of these were as follows :
